i'll keep things honest, he's in pain. his head doesn't seem to hurt him as much as his hips. in fact the swelling in his face is already subsiding. his butt pain is very severe and he can't hardly walk because of it. the doctors say that he needs to move around to help circulate the blood but he can't stand to stand. i got him a massager which has been helping.
right now he also has a terrible attitude. he is just out of his mind with the pain and drugs. he hurts and he can't get it to stop hurting and he feels like he is helpless.
i'm very tired right now. today has been a long day. todd is staying with him tonight. my uncle is concerned about mark being discharged in this state. i agree with that. i'm going to be back over there before rounds and make sure they don't discharge him.
he is convinced that the nurses kept him in a bed that was broken and he had to lie flat and no one would help him adjust the bed. i saw him in recovery and i know that wasn't the case so i think he is fixated on the OR bed. he was lying down for hours and couldn't move.. i don't know that it makes a difference but i think it gives me leverage to tell him to stop blaming the nurses.
its just part of the rough road.

ReplyDeleteWhen I had my bypass I had the same trouble...My butt hurt!!! The only thing that helped was walking. And Walking... And walking til I walked right out the door. It was a while til the pain was gone. Hospital beds suck! I swore mine was broken!!!
